SITUATION:
A large healthcare and pharmaceutical company was grappling with escalating interpersonal tensions and communication breakdowns across its multigenerational workforce. Differences in work styles, preferences for communication, and misunderstandings about each generation’s values led to frustration, disengagement, and a noticeable decline in collaboration. Leaders reported increasing generational stereotypes and a lack of psychological safety that threatened team cohesion and ultimately, patient and client outcomes.
SOLUTION:
Our team designed and facilitated Managing a Multi-Generational Workforce workshop tailored specifically to the unique dynamics of the healthcare and pharma environment. This highly engaging session combined industry-relevant case examples, interactive activities, and guided discussions to address generational myths, build empathy, and foster practical communication strategies. Participants engaged in structured reflection, shared cross-generational perspectives, and developed team agreements to bridge generational divides. The session also emphasized building “trust equity” to strengthen psychological safety, allowing individuals to bring their full perspectives forward without fear.
RESULTS:
Following the training, the client observed measurable improvements in team engagement and collaboration. Leaders noted a clear decrease in generational stereotyping, replaced by curiosity and mutual respect. Cross-generational partnerships became more common in project work, and post-workshop surveys indicated employees felt a stronger sense of inclusion and psychological safety. The organization has since partnered with us to develop a series of sustainment options and coaching circles to continue advancing these outcomes across their organization.
