HR Compliance & Effectiveness Assessment

SITUATION:

A mid-sized organization with a small HR department sought outside expertise from Exude Human Capital to evaluate their HR function. The organization had grown significantly and identified a need to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Leadership requested recommendations to better align the HR function to the business strategy.

SOLUTION:

We conducted our proprietary HR Compliance & Effectiveness Assessment that included 1:1 interviews with leaders, department heads, and HR staff. Our assessment looks at the entire employee lifecycle through the lens of compliance and best practices, as well as Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging covering areas such as:

  • General HR Administration
  • Recruiting & Hiring
  • Compensation & Payroll
  • Benefits & Leave
  • Training & Development
  • Grievances, Disciplines & Terminations

The process took approximately 30 to 45 days, resulting in a report that identified key areas of focus. This report was instrumental in developing a detailed project plan, which now serves as a roadmap for HR’s future initiatives. Key priority areas identified included updating job descriptions to accurately reflect roles, responsibilities, and job classifications, revising the compensation structure, and bringing certain policies into compliance with current federal, state, and local leave laws.

RESULTS:

The client now has a strategic roadmap to guide the future direction of their HR initiatives. Exude Human Capital is actively assisting in the updating of job descriptions and establishing a sustainable process for regular review and updates. These job descriptions will form the foundation for future efforts in compensation planning and career development. Additionally, the client has begun updating their policies and practices to ensure full compliance.

The client has described this process as both “thorough” and “reassuring,” noting that the clarity gained from understanding their current compliance status and identifying key focus areas has enabled them to effectively plan for HR’s future direction.
